Fox Thermal launches the vortex series model VF3 insertion and model VF4 inline vortex shedding flow meters, ideal for serving the oil & gas and industrial process markets.
“After over 30 years as the leader in thermal mass flow meters, Fox Thermal has expanded its product line to include vortex shedding flow measurement technology. Customers of Fox Thermal, who have long relied on their advanced thermal mass flow meters for process gas flow monitoring, can now monitor liquids and steam with ease. Offering trusted flow measurements across different fluid types will profoundly affect the ability of our customers to reach their efficiency goals,” stated Robert Cid, director of product marketing for Fox Thermal.
In one instrument and one process connection, the VF3 and VF4 measure multiple process parameters simultaneously: mass flow rate, volumetric flow rate, temperature, pressure, fluid density, and energy (BTU).
Highlights of the vortex series include:
- Measurement of gas, liquids, and steam
- Insertion configurations for pipe sizes greater than 2-inch with hot-tap options
- Inline configurations for ½-inch to 12-inch pipe sizes
- Field-configurable ranges, alarms, outputs, and displays
- Rangeability up to 100:1
- Temperature up to 750°F (400°C)
- Pressure up to 1,500 psia (100 bara)
The VF3 insertion vortex flow meter offers both removable and permanent retractor options. The hot-tap option allows installation and maintenance without having to shut down the process. These flow meters also allow end users to monitor performance with ease using the PoE (power over Ethernet) option resulting in lower overall infrastructure and installation costs.
Typical applications include:
- Produced or injection steam
- District heat distribution
- Process heating or heat tracing
- Produced water
- Liquefied natural gas (LNG)
- BTU energy measurement for thermal oils
