hotset presents temperature measuring inserts with protective fillings

hotset is offering measuring inserts with protective fillings in numerous variants for thermocouples and resistance thermometers in its portfolio. As a functional unit consisting of a sensor, measuring insert, thermowell, connection element, and process connection, they cover a wide range of production, process, fluid, and energy technology applications.

“Based on our expertise in temperature measurement technology and our project experience from many industries, we are now in a position to significantly expand our range of expertise,” reported Sales Manager Sven Braatz. This is reflected in the activities of the Temperature Solutions division, which is presenting measuring inserts with protective fittings.

With this expansion of the portfolio of built-in components of its hotcontrol brand, the company offers users in many branches of industry a wide range of high-quality standard solutions for precise temperature monitoring of liquid, gaseous, and pasty media. In addition to the protective fittings of types 2G and 2GoH in accordance with DIN 43772, which are the most frequently used in the industry, numerous other ready-to-install versions are available. They can be fitted with various connection heads and measuring inserts (DIN 43735) with all thermocouples and resistance thermometers from hotset. “We already cover a wide range of applications in production, process, energy, and fluid technology as standard,” said Helge Meiritz, Head of the Temperature Solutions division. The most important areas of application for the new protective fittings and measuring inserts include the numerous temperature monitoring tasks in mechanical and plant engineering, industrial furnace construction, the steel and iron industry as well as in light and non-ferrous metal processing, power plant technology, and automotive engineering. The chemical and petrochemical industries, the building materials industry, and plastics technology are also among the users of these measurement components.

First-hand quality

The basic versions of the new protective fittings and measuring inserts from hotset are designed for measuring temperatures of up to 1,100° C close to the process. “The temperature sensors installed in them are characterized by short response times, high accuracy, and high vibration resistance,” explained Helge Meiritz.

In addition to the 2G (with neck tube) and 2GoH (without neck tube) types, other designs are also available. Users can choose between steel or stainless steel thermowells, with different lengths, diameters, and geometries, as well as for installation using flange, screw-in or welded connections. The measuring insert can be changed for all types and can be fitted with transmitters. Helge Meiritz also emphasized that “hotset not only produces DIN variants, but also customer-specific special shapes.”

Safe signal path to the control system

The connection heads of the hotcontrol protective fittings are made of die-cast aluminum and are available in different versions. They protect the underlying base with the system connections. The base has spring-loaded fixing screws to ensure a secure connection between the tip of the measuring insert and the base of the thermowell, even if the thermowell and measuring insert have different thermal expansions. This allows for flexible mounting of the measuring insert.
